Elemental in the winter and sunkissed and sheltered in the summer.
Huge boulders cascade from hillside to shore, frozen in time. A hewn off harbour juts out into the sea. Unmistakable, unforgettable Lamorna Cove at the bottom of a lush valley watered by a tumbling stream has a real edge of the world feel to it.
Elemental in the winter and sunkissed and sheltered in the summer, the rugged, landscape here has captured the imagination of artists and writers through the ages.
You may have seen Lamorna featured in the 2013 film Summer In February, a story about the post-impressionist Newlyn artists who lived here in the early 20th Century, starring Dominic Cooper and Downton’s Dan Stevens.
Local knowledge: The drive to Lamorna is along a narrow, winding lane. This is a place built to explore on foot and we love the walk along the coast path from Mousehole. Carry on to St Loy for dizzy heights along paths quiet even at peak season.
